Dear Parents, Walking down our main hallway you’ll see giant letters on the bulletin board: ALL DAY EVERY DAY! It’s our attendance mantra with our kids. The reason is simple: There’s a connection between being at school all day every day and the learning that makes up a good education. Another way to say it is that seat time in school means learning time. We want our kids to build a strong base in elementary school to go on to success in middle and high school and then have the option of college.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Get your child to school daily and on time – fevers, diarrhea or vomiting are reasons to stay home, but otherwise, we want them here!
  • Schedule appointments after school whenever possible.
  • Don’t take your child home early just for convenience sake – the whole day is important.

If Your Student Is Absent….State Law Says

State law around attendance in elementary school has greatly changed in the recent past. Parents are required to call or send a note excusing each and every absence. Calling our automated attendance line is the easiest way to excuse an absence. Call 360-313-1432 right away when you know your child won’t be in school. If you accumulate even two unexcused absences you will receive a letter from us. The accumulation of five unexcused absences requires us to put a plan in place with you. Beyond this, things can end up in the court system.

Please let us know if something has come up that we need to work on together and we will do just that. We are here to help and we understand that sometimes unusual situations occur.

Thank you for helping us achieve our goal of 96% daily attendance and less than 1% of unexcused absences at our school!
