Welcome to April, Roosevelt Families!

Spring is in the air! What a wonderful and busy time of year.

I want to take a moment to update everyone after our recent PTA meeting. Thank you to those who were able to join us as we discussed options for our organization for the next school year.

The decision to change from at PTA to a PTO was overwhelmingly passed. This means we will no longer have membership dues starting in the 2017-2018 school year. It also means we will be able to continue the wonderful programs and projects that the current PTA has been able to support, from Popcorn Friday to Classroom Projects to Family Movie Nights.

However, in order for this happen, we do need a Board of Officers – President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer – to oversee the organization. Without a Board, we will not be able to continue these great supports.

We are currently accepting nominations, or applications, for each Board position for the 2017-2018 school year. In order to be nominated for a Board position, you need to be a current member of the PTA. If you are not a member, we can still take membership registrations. If the $10.00 Membership fee is a hardship, we have scholarships available. Please contact me if this is a concern for you. If you are interested in any position or have any questions about Board positions, please contact me (megan.vickery@vansd.org) 360-313-2600 or our current PTA Board President Shelli Heibult (president.rooseveltpta@gmail.com) or Vice President Anna Cvitkovich (vp.rooseveltpta@gmail.com).

Our next PTA meeting is scheduled for 3:15pm on Thursday, May 18th in the Roosevelt Media Center. It is at this meeting we will propose to vote on any nominations we have received for the PTO Board for next year.

Sincerely, Megan Vickery, Principal
