Welcome to 2018 and back to school!
We are rested and ready to get back to LEARNING! We have a busy winter ahead with a variety of family events over the next couple of months. Please be sure to watch the calendar for dates and times.
I want you to know how much I appreciate your efforts to ensure your children are at school on a regular basis. As I have mentioned in previous months, good attendance is essential to learning. At Eleanor Roosevelt we have goals for our students. These goals are for 90% of our students to have 90% or better attendance by the year 2020. Each year we set goals to help us get closer to that 2020 target. For the 2017-2018 School year our goal is to have 80% of Kindergartners and 86% of all students reaching 90% attendance or better. This means that students miss no more than 2 days each month of school. As of today we are making great strides towards reaching our goals, due in large part to your help as a family, working to ensure your child is an Attendance H.E.R.O. – Here. Every day. Ready. On time.
School Attendance Data from 8/31/17 to 9/2/18:
Kindergarten = 87.4% 2nd Grade = 89.4% 4th Grade = 93.0%
1st Grade = 81.1% 3rd Grade = 86.6% 5th Grade = 86.0%
All of Roosevelt Elementary = 87.2%
Good school attendance leads to success at all levels of education for our students:
Elementary Students read well by the end of 3rd grade.
Middle School Students pass important courses.
High School Students stay on track to graduate.
College Students earn their degrees.
We are all doing great work! Let’s keep this positive work going as we move through the winter and on into spring!
Sincerely, Megan Vickery
