Dear VPS families, staff, and students,
Over the last several months, our community has played an essential role as we searched for the next Superintendent of Vancouver Public Schools.
In August, we launched the 31 Qualities Survey, which invited families, staff, and community members to share the qualities you felt were most important to see in our next Superintendent. Your responses helped inform the superintendent job description and guided the search from the beginning.
We also hosted dozens of in-person and virtual listening sessions, giving community members the opportunity to share their priorities and hopes for the next Superintendent. We carefully reviewed this feedback and used it to guide their search and help them select four finalists.
Over the last two weeks, we invited you to watch the recorded interviews of these finalists, read their biographies, and join us for a meet-and-greet with each candidate.
More than 2,300 of you watched the video interviews, more than 300 of you provided feedback through our online surveys, and more than 200 community members and members of advisory committees joined us to meet the candidates.
After careful consideration and the final round of interviews, our Board, guided by your feedback and with our Vision of a Graduate in mind, is pleased to announce they have chosen Dr. Ricardo “Rocky” Torres-Morales as the next Superintendent of Vancouver Public Schools.
