Dear Parents,

If you have never come to our International Friendship Day Assembly, and you can make it at 1:30 on Friday, June 10, you are in for a treat. As you know, our school is highly diverse, and on this day we celebrate that. Students wear native dress and the day begins with a parade through the school and VPS Central Office. At the assembly in the afternoon, students do a very moving flag presentation (flags from 47 different countries!) and perform dances from Mexico, Russia, Africa, Tahiti, South Korea, and the US.

Our students hail from dozens of different countries and their families speak 25 different languages, but they all have one thing in common – friendship. And that is the other thing we celebrate that day. We will recognize students who have built international friendships as well as those considered good will ambassadors at our school.

The students are already practicing for this day and it would be an honor for them to see large numbers of parents in the audience.

We hope to see many of you there!

Sincerely, Karrie Yank
